I have attempted on many occasions to secure a satisfactory observation of this complex feature, but have always been thwarted by poor seeing conditions or unfavourable weather.
Over the period I have made brief sketches wherever possible, and of separate interest is the interaction of the shadow of the central peak with the western wall at sunrise.
It is this feature I have attempted to show in the series of sketches shown above.
